October 14, 2026. Morning report with an 08:20 UTC reporting cutoff. Event occurred October 13.
What happened
Saudi Arabia's Energy Ministry says an Aramco administrative building in Dhahran was attacked on Tuesday evening, causing a limited fire and no injuries or deaths, Reuters reports. One unnamed company source told Reuters a ballistic missile damaged the top three floors of an office tower. The Saudi-led coalition says it intercepted a ballistic missile at Dhahran and that fragments fell in a residential area. Officials have not said whether the building took a direct hit or debris.
Hours earlier, the Houthis named Aramco's Dhahran headquarters as a target, as our October 13 alert reported. By our check, no Houthi claim for the strike had appeared and Aramco had not commented.
Energy implications
Our Middle East panel reads the hit as a signal of reach into the Eastern Province, home to Abqaiq and Ras Tanura. The reports reviewed at the morning cutoff established no production, processing or export impact. Damage to an administrative building alone does not quantify an oil-supply loss. Our Saudi Arabia coverage tracks the wider Houthi campaign.
Watch: Operating notices for Eastern Province processing and export sites; a Houthi claim, or a strike near the Riyadh refinery; any US move from rhetoric to joining strikes in Yemen.
